Fantastic opening for Mountains and Molehills!

There was a tremendous turnout last night at Art Works and Plant Zero. I think about a million people came through and I'm hardly exaggerating! I got to see a lot of old friends, met some of my facebook friends in person and talked with a lot of folks I never knew before.

This couple was highly complimentary of my work.

One of my best patrons! Alice bought this piece, "The Elephant Remembers."

Catching up with Mary and Win

Great seeing the Leon family!
Jean and Bruce - great supporters of my work!
Ron and Michael - thanks for the tips on what to do in NY city!
Patrons enjoying snacks and my co-exhibitor, Rick Blanton's work
Selfie in front of "Fragile Balance" - one of the mountains

Here's a video preview of the show I did before the opening:

I've been missing my bike for the most of the past couple of weeks after a battle with the stupid cold/virus thing that is going around Richmond and then getting ready for my show at Art Works opening tomorrow night (1/24/14).
This time off has me thinking about why I love to ride, so without further ado, here is my list of

hello, world!

this is the first post of my first blog, so first, a little about me: i'm an artist from richmond, va and i love riding my bike whenever i can. this blog will be about art (mostly mine) and biking. i will probably add other things i'm interested in from time to time, so look for posts about cats and my musical tastes among other topics.

at this point in my life, i am pretty much exclusively working on mixed-media paintings using sharpie and acrylic paint on canvas. i call these pieces "Elaborate Doodles." you will see my work posted here or just go to my website, danafrostick.com, and have your fill.

i bike for fun, but mostly for getting around. biking makes me feel good for many reasons! it helps me get exercise on a daily basis while traveling to and fro. i enjoy seeing the world around me and stopping to pick up lost items that i find on the road. it makes me feel good about not using gas - good for the environment and my pocket. it gets me outside into the fresh air.

i'm looking forward to writing about art and bikes. yall come back now, hear?!
